Frequent travel is a key part of this position, so flexibility and adaptability are essential.
Desired Competencies
- Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on stick welding in diverse settings, pipe welding preferred.
- Blueprint Mastery: Proven ability to interpret and execute detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skillset: Proficiency in vertical, horizontal, and overhead welding techniques.
- Problem-Solving: A sharp eye for detail and the ability to tackle challenges independently or collaboratively.
- Safety First: A deep understanding of safety protocols and the consistent use of protective gear.
- Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication to coordinate with teams and supervisors.
Essential Job Functions
- Analyzing blueprints and specifications to plan precise welding layouts.
- Selecting the right equipment and techniques for each unique project.
- Preparing materials to exact specifications using tools like angle grinders.
- Executing welding tasks to meet tight construction schedules while upholding quality.
- Inspecting and testing welded surfaces to ensure they meet rigorous standards.
- Repairing structural components and machinery to ensure seamless functionality.
- Maintaining equipment to avoid downtime and ensure safety.
- Keeping workspaces organized and aligned with safety protocols.
- Collaborating across teams to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of professional stick welding experience.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- A professional welding certification (e.g., AWS) is preferred.
- Valid Class E driver’s license (or equivalent) required within 30 days of hire and a company-approved driving record.
- Strong math skills and the ability to read and write fluently.
- Willingness to travel 50%–70% of the time.
Physical Requirements
- Working in varying temperature conditions and occasionally uncomfortable environments.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling as required.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders or platforms at heights above 42 inches.
- Using mechanical tools and equipment for extended periods, up to 12 hours a day when needed.
